About Me
I’m Angela, a writer, photographer, and historian who has found respite writing along Ghana’s Atlantic coast.
Much of my work focuses on how writers grapple with individual, collective, and societal trauma. I seek to understand how writers can help society move through—and move on from—traumatic events.
I have two writing projects in progress: a historical fiction novel about a young woman who goes on a trek to rescue her lover who was kidnapped into the slave trade. And a collection of essays tracing the journeys and experiences of Black literary icons who have moved to Ghana.
In my prior professional life, I worked in Canadian federal and provincial politics. I have published op-eds in many national publications, including The Globe and Mail, Maclean’s, and CBC. I have also been invited to comment on current affairs and have been a guest on CBC’s Power & Politics, CTV Your Morning, and others.
When not writing, you can find me chasing sunsets, re-watching my favourite movies, or plotting my next travel adventure.
